Jet Ski Dock - Jet Ski Lift

Once you decided to purchase a jet ski, or personal watercraft, and pretty soon you have to start thinking about where to dock your jet ski.  It doesn't make a lot of sense  to tie it up to a mooring, and you may not have a larger vessel to attach it to.  You want to get a proper jet ski dock.  Jet skis are an expensive investment, and you want to be sure you have proper docking facilities for it, that are accessible and easy to use.  Maintenance-free jet ski docks are also nice to have, as the marine environment can be hostile to just about anything man-made.  Having a docking system that's easy to use by anyone is important, if you want to get the most use out of your personal watercraft.

There are several styles of jet ski docs available, but they fall into basically two categories.  There's a sliding type, and the roller type.  Sliding type docks, have basically no moving parts.  You simply drag your jet ski up onto the ramp section of the dock, and the power of the jet ski moves it into docking position.  No moving parts, means less maintenance, and less things to break, but it can be hard for smaller members of the family who use the jet ski, especially when it comes to launching into the water.  The second style of dock, is the wheel or roller type docks.  These have some kind of roller mechanism that assists in the docking and launching of your PWC into the water.  These are much easier to use than the sliding docks, but have the potential for parts breakage and additional cleaning.

There are additional benefits to having a dock for your WaveRunner, SeaDoos or jet skis.  As mentioned previously, convenience is one of them.  You get a lot more use out of the jet ski, it's easier to access and store.  Additionally, a good floating dock will protect the jet ski from the wear and tear of waves and the corrosive nature of water.  This is especially true if you're in a saltwater environment.  A rusty old dock wall, Sewall, or pier with rotting timbers is no place for your expensive new jet ski.  Those are just the kind of environments that can tarnish and damage the gel coat of your vehicle.

Something you may want to give consideration to when purchasing your dock, is the size.  You can get a docking platform, that's just big enough for your jet ski,  but I'd go a little bigger if you have a choice.  If you have room to walk around your craft while its docked, it will make it easier to work on, refuel, flash and clean.  If you do select a walk around, be sure that the surface has some sort of nonslip coating.  It's just safer.

Additional features which are nice to have, include a Winch, cleats,  attachment kits, and installation mounts.   Most of the time, you just drive your jet ski up onto the dock.  But there may be times, one which is helpful.  If your engine conks out, or you run out of fuel, and end up getting towed or paddling back to the dock, a winch can make your life a lot easier.  It's also additional method of securing your WaveRunner to the dock.  Cleats are also important accessories, if you plan on leaving your vehicle on the dock for any period of time.  At least one, but preferably to cleats will secure your jet ski from sliding around due to any waves or wake from other boats.

If you've ever had a boat of any kind, that's been stored in water for lengthy periods, but I'm sure you're aware of the need for antifouling paint.  A jet ski is also susceptible to this kind of Marine algae and growth.  Being able to store your jet ski out of the water, but on a floating dock eliminates this problem but still makes your jet ski very accessible for use.  Delamination is a problem that plagues many vessels including personal watercraft.  Once again, the jet ski dock eliminates this problem.  It means your jet ski is only in the water, when using it and having fun.

Give some thought, to her you will be attaching your jet ski dock.  There are a number of mounting kits in brackets available depending on your situation.   Several docks can be connected if you have more than one PWC.  If you're attaching your dock to a larger dock, they'll need the appropriate mounting gear.  PWC docs can also stand alone with a proper mooring and anchoring system.

Most floating docks are constructed out of a very durable polyethylene plastic and come in a variety of colors.  You can probably get one that matches your jet ski.  If you get a jet ski dock that is portable, you may be able to move it on the same trailer as your jet ski.  Additionally, make sure that the jet ski dock you purchase fits your jet ski.   While the docks tend to be universally sized, it doesn't hurt to double check.
