Bamboo Laminate Flooring
69Natural flooring options have become very popular with the public's
increased awareness of environmental issues, and bamboo laminate
flooring is very much in demand. Bamboo laminate flooring is a more
economical option over the relatively expensive natural bamboo.
For homeowners that opt for do-it-yourself projects to remodel their homes, bamboo laminate flooring offers many advantages.
The
cost for laminate flooring is significantly below that of natural
hardwoods, and that expense includes installation and materials. It
takes a professional installer to lay down most hardwood flooring, and
that includes natural bamboo; consequently, the expenses can mushroom.
The do-it-yourself-er, however, can install laminate flooring in a
weekend.
Exceptionally durable, scratch and stain resistant,
and capable of withstanding heavy traffic, bamboo laminate flooring
will frequently have a warranty of ten years.
Laminate
flooring does not have the imperfections that natural hardwoods do nor
the difficulties that go along with that feature, and it has a broader
spectrum of applications. For instance, laminate flooring is suitable
for use in kitchens and bathrooms where it may come into contact with
water from sinks or showers. No wooden flooring, laminate or hardwood,
will do well against standing water, but laminate floors will normally
tolerate exposure to water splashes and spills without staining or
warping.
Laminate Bamboo Floors In Kitchen
A lot of people find there are disadvantages
associated with the use of bamboo laminate flooring over that of
natural bamboo. Natural bamboo is a fast-growing plantation product,
and the bamboo stalks are easily harvested and replaced for flooring
products. Bamboo flooring is the choice for most homeowners who want to
buy flooring materials that are environmentally green.
One
reservation that some people have, especially those who have become
accustomed to the way natural wood feels, is that laminate flooring can
feel artificial. Others don't like the idea that their flooring is not
genuine, in spite of the fact that the material in the core is recycled
wood and wood products.
There are also those homeowners who
feel that bamboo laminate flooring does little to add to the resale
value of a home. Hardwood flooring, however, is considered to be
high-end relative to laminate flooring.
It is not possible to
sand or refinish laminate flooring that has been damaged, like you can
with natural hardwood. If heavy damage occurs with laminate flooring,
some of the boards or perhaps the whole floor will need to be replaced.
Bamboo laminate flooring, however, does provide a viable
alternative for do-it-yourself-ers who want flooring that is easy to
install and maintain and will tolerate a lot of moisture. Bamboo
laminate flooring is much less expensive to install than a hardwood
floor, but it may not contribute as much as genuine bamboo to the
resale value of your house.

Great article! I think bamboo is one of the most undervalued materials in todays world, even though it is already used quiet extensively - but it has so much more potential.
